At Rare Friends, one of the core pillars of our mission is to empower girls through education. Every scholarship, every donation, and every bit of encouragement is an investment in the future of a girl with potential—and there’s no better example of that than Goldalyn Sidi.

Goldalyn is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Community Health at the Technical University of Mombasa. Her journey to university wasn’t easy, but thanks to the Rare Friends sponsorship program—and our incredible supporters—she is now following her dream of serving her community through healthcare.

“To the sponsors, I’m really grateful for this opportunity. It’s because of you that I’m here today. You came into my life during a tough moment, and because of that, I’m now pursuing what I truly wanted to do.”Goldalyn Sidi

Goldalyn’s story reflects what we believe in most: that when girls are given the chance, they rise. They pursue their goals, they uplift others, and they become agents of change.

Jonathan Mativo, the Project Lead of Friends of River Rare Kenya, also shared some insight into the broader mission:

“Friends of River Rare is partnering with Rare Friends in the Netherlands. Together, our objective is to uplift the lives of girls and women here in Kenya.”

This collaboration ensures that many girls like Goldalyn are not left behind. Through our education program, we’re breaking barriers that often hold young women back—poverty, early marriage, lack of resources—and replacing them with opportunity, mentorship, and long-term support.

Another friend of the project, speaking directly to Sandra her sponsee, and our girls, had this to say:

“I’m so proud of the results you’ve achieved. Education is one of the most powerful tools you can have. It gives you independence, choice, and the strength to shape your future. Keep learning—be the best in your class. The world is watching, and cheering you on.- Louise Fresco

These words remind us that education is not just about grades. It’s about giving young women the ability to dream bigger, act bolder, and lead fearlessly.

At Rare Friends, every success story like Goldalyn’s is a powerful reminder that your support matters. You’re not just funding school fees—you’re lighting a path for the next generation of women leaders.
